Last weekend a food blogger I follow posted on Facebook about how great Collierville Vietnamese restaurant New Que Huong is. After reading only good reviews on everything from their food to their service and atmosphere, I convinced a friend to make the drive out with me so we could try something new. A little tricky to find and tucked in the corner of a shopping plaza, New Que Huong is a cute, comfortable restaurant with fun decorations.
I ordered Spring Rolls to start and they were brought out very quickly. They had fresh mint, tomato, noodles, fried tofu, and the usual gummy spring roll wrapper, along with a thick peanut sauce to dip in. I’ve had spring rolls before, but never with this amount of fresh herb in them. The mint was refreshing but also threw me off because I wasn’t expecting it!
My friend got a Lotus Root Salad that came with these amazing chips. I stole a couple because they were so irresistible and crunchy.
I took a chance on the Lemongrass Tofu here. I’ve had samples of Lemongrass Tofu before that had sort of a dry spice rub instead of a sauce which turned me off of it. Here the tofu was cooked perfectly and had a thick, tangy sauce instead of a dry texture, which I loved! It was spicy, but not too spicy, and there was plenty of it served with a big side of sticky white rice.
My friend ordered a Bahn Mi that had yummy crusty bread stuffed with meat, veggies, and cilantro (which he took off).
When we were finished our waitress brought us a complimentary dessert of oranges and the fluffiest, most refreshing little pieces of mango cake. It was the perfect end to our amazing lunch!
New Que Huong is amazing and affordable. Our waitress was nice and funny, our food came quickly and exceeded our expectations, and my friend and I both agreed the fountain soda there is especially good for some reason. I can’t wait to go back! It’s absolutely worth making the drive to Collierville. Give it a shot!
